J A S O N R E S P I L I E U X
is a choreographic artist based between Brussels and the Tarn region of France. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, Codarts and P.A.R.T.S. Since 2014, he has collaborated with choreographers such as Salva Sanchis, Ted Stoffer, Claire Croizé, Louise Vanneste and Anneleen Keppens. He has also worked with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's Rosas company between 2017 and 2023. At the same time, he teaches dance and develops a pedagogy focused on collaboration.
In 2019, Jason trained in permaculture. Since then, he has incorporated the ecological and ethical principles of this practice into his artistic approach. He also trained in cross-functional management and collective intelligence tools. In 2022, he co-founded the Tarnaise ArTerre association and its eclectic annual festival Débord&DesRives. Since 2023, Jason has also been participating in La Bellone's dramaturgical seminar and assisting choreographers Baptiste Conte and Fanny Brouyaux with choreography and dramaturgy. In 2024, he co-founded the Maison Vive association, a project dedicated to providing shared production tools for and with its members/emerging choreographers.
Jason began his career as a choreographer by collaborating extensively with director Petronella Van der Hallen 0 (2019) and Zilverreiger (2026), with photographer Lore Stessel The Body Will Thrive (2020-2021), with musician Romina Lischka Die Kunst Der Fuge (2023-2024) at Bozar (BE), with playwright Julie Aminthe thanks to a carte blanche from ADDA Du Tarn Au Plus Près Du Vivant En Corps et En Mots (2024), with dancer and choreographer Frank Gizcky and theorbo player Nacho Laguna Sotto Voce (2024-2025).
With J'en pris les oiseaux / Criiez oracle (2022-2023), Jason created his first solo work, which premiered at the Théâtre Les Brigittines (BE). It has since toured in an adapted/in situ version in Belgium, France and Spain.
Jason's artistic approach is part of a constant desire to connect dance to broader issues — ecological, educational, intimate and social. Having asserted his choreographic vision, today it is above all about rethinking our modes of creation. He proposes working frameworks based on kindness, listening and attention to living things. Like an ecosystem: every gesture, every relationship counts, every step of the process contributes to the collaborative balance. As a queer artist from a working-class background, Jason conceives his creations as spaces of resistance and emancipation, where fairer, more inclusive and embodied ways of being and doing are reinvented.
